The Credit Card Numbers in this process are 1 time use cards and you get a new card number with each vessel file you process. Do not save the card numbers as they will only work 1 time.
Fairwater Payment Process
- In Fairwater Agency Fee & Services Tab add or update the service items for vendor 70557.
- Double check to confirm the Service Item Amounts exactly match the Amounts on the Payment Request form from US Customs.
- Generate the PO for vendor 70557.
- Upload the Payment Request Form that you received from US Customs to the 70557 service items (this does not have to be Approved).
- Select the Service Items for vendor 70557 and click the button “Paid with Credit Card/Cash”.
- Fill out the payment Information and click Post.
Customs Portal
- You will receive an email from Fairwater with the subject “Fairwater Alert – Credit Card Payment – {Vessel Name} – {Call Number}”.
- Click the link in the Email body to open the Agency Fee and Services Tab.
- Click on any 1 of your Service item Payment ID to display the credit card information.
- Use the Credit Card information to pay via https://e.cbp.dhs.gov/maritime/#/home website.
- The questions Customs ask on their portal come from the header of the Online Payment Request form as shown below. If you do not know this information please contact your manager.
- Customs will email a formal Receipt after the Credit Card payment is processed. Please retain these receipts in case they are needed at a later time. You do not have to upload these to Fairwater.

Customs Portal Error – “Receipt Not Eligible for Online Payment” : Per Brian Sale (BRIAN.A.SALE@cbp.dhs.gov), Branch Chief – Manifest & Conveyance Security Division, please let your local Customs office know that they might have clicked on the payment request that they sent which puts in back in draft mode, preventing us from paying online. Instead of clicking on it, they can simply refresh the page on Customs side, or wait for a confirmation from you (email, phone call, etc.).
Payment Failed – If you get a message that looks like below you have most likely entered a wrong Credit Card Number. These Credit Card Numbers are 1 time use, each vessel file gets a new credit card number each time. Please get your card information from your current vessel file and try again.
