How do I get a Vendor Service Item or Line Item (Tariff) corrected?

If you find inaccuracies in the pricing of a Vendor Service Item calculation please email purchasing@nortonlilly.com including the Vendor Name(Number), Service Item Name(Number), & description of the problem.

Vendor Service Items contain default Line Item Details and Quantities.  Ideally the default values include those that are most commonly needed for that Service Item.  By providing your feedback to the Purchasing Team the Line Item Details can be refined to give you the most complete & correct pricing for the Service Item and minimize the edits needed.

How do I setup a Vendor to only receive Purchase Orders?

  1. The Vendors Workflow settings are controlled by Purchasing, they can set it up so Fairwater does not Email the Service Requests but does Email the Purchase Order.  This Workflow Type is labeled “Don’t Send SR & Send PO”.
  2. All Service Items need to have the Workflow Started and the PO’s Generated. You cannot generate a PO without first Starting the Workflow.  This does not mean that Emails are always sent, Emails are controlled by the Workflow Type that Purchasing sets up for each Vendor.

Do All Vessels have IMO numbers?

No, not all vessels have IMO numbers.

Here’s a breakdown:

✅ Vessels that do have IMO numbers:

The IMO number (International Maritime Organization number) is a unique identifier assigned by IHS Markit under the authority of the IMO. It is mandatory for:

  • Commercial ships ≥ 100 GT involved in international voyages
  • Cargo ships ≥ 300 GT in international service
  • Passenger ships, regardless of tonnage, in international service
  • Mobile offshore drilling units (MODUs)
  • Fishing vessels ≥ 100 GT, if flagged by a country that applies IMO’s voluntary scheme

❌ Vessels that do not have IMO numbers typically include:

  • Small recreational boats (e.g., yachts, sailboats under 100 GT)
  • Domestic-only vessels operating within a single country’s waters
  • Warships and naval auxiliaries
  • Inland waterway vessels
  • Fishing vessels in many countries (though this is changing)
  • Smaller barges or tugboats under 100 GT and not in international waters

Summary:

If the vessel is large and commercial, especially operating internationally, it almost certainly has an IMO number. For smaller, domestic, or non-commercial vessels, it likely does not.
